Fall Back in Love with Yourself
Sarah’s Note: The Return Season
September has always felt like a reset to me.
Not a “start over” kind of reset… but a return.
A return to the rituals that make us feel grounded.
The movement that makes us feel strong.
The meals that remind us to slow down.
This month is about falling back in love with the body you’re in while creating habits that support the life you want to keep living. Because your body isn’t something to fight against, it’s something to continue investing in.
The French Art of Nourishment
Two of my clients recently moved to France, and although they changed continents, our online Pilates sessions have continued. It reminded me that movement has no borders. No matter where life takes us, it becomes part of how we live.
Nourishment has a way of traveling with us too. The meals we prepare, the traditions we carry, and the moments we create around food become part of our wellness story no matter where life takes us.

Velvet Butternut Squash Soup
A French-Inspired Fall Ritual
As the seasons begin to change, making a pot of soup has become one of my favorite ways to slow down, nourish my body, and ease into autumn.

A New Hip. A New Chapter.
The Same Body to Trust.
My client has always believed movement is an essential part of living well. Long before we began working together, she had built a consistent yoga and Pilates practice that supported an active life filled with travel, skiing, and raising service dogs for Guide Dogs of America. Her current trainee, a golden retriever named Vega, keeps her moving every day.
When my client first began preparing for hip replacement surgery, our goal wasn’t simply getting her ready for an operation. It was helping her feel stronger, more confident, and more connected to her body before the next chapter began.
Her goal wasn’t simply to recover from surgery; it was to return to the active life she loves.
Before Surgery
In the months leading up to surgery, we focused on building strength around her hips, improving mobility, and reinforcing movement patterns that would support both the procedure and her recovery. Just as importantly, each session helped her feel more connected to her body and more confident walking into surgery.
After Surgery
Once she was cleared to return to Pilates, our focus shifted. We gradually restored mobility, rebuilt strength, and helped her trust her body again one movement at a time. Recovery wasn’t about rushing back to where she had been; it was about creating a strong foundation for where she wanted to go next.

Why Individualized Pilates Matters
Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all.
That’s why I believe individualized Pilates matters. Everybody moves differently, heals differently, and deserves a plan designed around their unique needs, not a generic protocol.
Whether you’re preparing for surgery, recovering from one, or simply investing in your long-term mobility, the goal is the same: to build a body that supports the life you want to keep living.
September Rituals
(Move, Nourish, Restore)
Move: A 7-minute ritual to wake up your spine.

Listen: Grooves that make you want to move.
This ’90s R&B Move Your Soul playlist is inspired by a little nostalgia, a little soul, and the perfect beats for groove mornings, Flâner (purposeful, rhythmic walks), Pilates flows, and the kind of music that makes you want to move a little longer.
This sultry playlist has been on repeat during my afternoon Pilates sessions.

Nourish: Seasonal ingredients, simple rituals.
The recipe is only half the story—the ingredients and tools we choose matter, too. I’ve rounded up a few kitchen favorites - from the olive oil I reach for to the Dutch oven that comes out every fall - to help bring this recipe to life.
Restore: Consistency Over Complexity.
One of the things I’ve always admired about the French philosophy of skincare is its emphasis on consistency over excess. Rather than chasing quick fixes, it’s about caring for your skin through thoughtful daily rituals. This seaweed serum has become one of the products I consistently turn to.

Autumn has always reminded me that transformation doesn’t happen by becoming someone new. It happens by reconnecting with who you already are.
Through movement. Through nourishment. Through the small rituals that remind you that your body is worth caring for in every season.
Here’s to returning to yourself. One ritual at a time.
